The IEEE Hot Interconnects conference was a smashing success in its' 14th year. This year it was held in the Education Center (Cubberly Auditorium) on the beautiful Stanford University Campus.
Two days of presentations followed by one day of tutorials. Great food, great people, in a great place! Industry and academic presentations on developing interconnects technologies. Wireless access throughout the site. Held every August.

The road to getting a new product on the shelf is long and tedious. Patience and persistence is paramount to succeeding in the design, manufacture and sale of a mass market retail product. Jerry Awbrey of the Awbrey Corporation (www.awbreyco.com) has been on that journey with not one, but two new product lines. The first is called "Notester". A line of revolutionary pen and pad cleverly paired together into one product that can conveniently be attached to your refrigerator, car visor, book, binder, or just about anywhere depending on which version of the product your purchase. Now you can leave a post it style note anywhere at any time because you are never without paper with a pen.
The second of these inventions is Viage Beauté line of skin care folllowed by a line of hair care products all of which are sulfate free and hang in your shower or bathroom or bedroom mirror on a hook. The bottle is always open and ready to easily dispense a shot of product into your hand. Very convenient! And the product itself is outstanding as well.
Both Notester and Viage Beauté will be available in stores soon.

BAFlying began as a study group nearly 5 years ago. Since that time the group has matured with some members achieving Flight Instructor status after joining as a student pilot. The group provides a social channel for pilots in the San Francisco Bay Area although a few of the core members have moved away - they remain active on the mail list. If you're pursuing your pilot license or higher rating and interested in expanding socially in general aviation then take a look at http://www.baflying.com

Ever seen a 3D laptop before? Actually, Sharp has one on the market. The Actius RD3D. But what good is it unless you have 3D graphics or a 3D movie running? This is what Dr. Cary Kornfeld, Inventor, and Stanford Alumni is developing.
Dr. Kornfeld began experimenting with ideas of creating stereoscopic imaging many moons ago. In more recent years he has constructed a manageably sized portable camera setup to deliver digital ‘live’ stereoscopic imaging primarily for medical education. Now at ETH/University Zürich, Dr. Kornfeld has enrolled students using his technology to create student 3D films. Although there are no immediate plans to market the device, there is talk about offering a service to deliver 3D imaging at medical training facilities.

Pilot and CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) is the dream and reality for Lorne Lawry. Currently maintaining an excess of 3,000 hours dual time given, he has sent off numerous private pilots into the skies.
Those of you who know Lorne (the last of the technology snobs - shunning cellphones until late 2004), now can't live without one. Further pressure has lead him to having his own website 'www.lornelawry.com'.
The LRD Group produced and launched the www.lornelawry.com website in 2005. The LRD Group currently maintains the website.
Lorne personally taught me (Liz Rogers) to land an airplane in 2000. I can testify that he is an excellent & very patient and proficient instructor.
